What Betty is
Betty is a tool for people on home dialysis and their care teams to log and review health information. This policy explains what we store, why, who else handles it, and the control you have over it. It is written to meet Chile's personal data protection law (Ley 21.719) and applies to everyone who uses Betty.
What we store
Account details: name, email, a hashed password, language and account type (patient or provider). Providers also give their profession and workplace, and may add a photo and bio.
Health information you enter: nightly dialysis metrics (dextrose strength, volumes, blood pressure, weight, pulse), notes, lab results, medications and doses, and appointments with their notes. This is sensitive personal data.
Messages you send through "Leave us feedback". Please don't put health details in feedback.
If you are a provider: private notes you write about your patients, and your link to each patient.
Why, and your consent
We use your information only to run Betty for you: show your charts, share them with providers you invite, send account emails and read lab reports you upload. We don't sell it, show ads, or use it to train AI models.
We rely on your explicit consent, given when you create your account. You can withdraw it at any time by deleting your account.
Who else handles your data
To run Betty we use these service providers, who process data on our behalf. Some are outside Chile (for example in the United States), so your data may be transferred internationally.
Anthropic (AI): when you upload a lab report photo or PDF, the file is sent to Anthropic to read the values. Betty does not keep the file; only the values you confirm are saved. Crop out your name and ID number before uploading if you can.
Neon (database): stores your account and health data.
Cloudflare (hosting): serves the app and handles your requests.
Resend (email): sends confirmation, password reset and provider-invitation emails.
Sharing with providers
Nobody sees your chart unless you invite them. A provider you invite can view your dashboard, lab results and medications (read only) once they accept. You can remove their access at any time from your profile.
A provider's private notes about you belong to that provider's own records. They are not visible to you in Betty, and are deleted if you delete your account.
Your rights
You can access, correct, delete, object to the processing of, and take a copy of your data. In Betty: edit your details on the Profile page, download everything as JSON or CSV, and delete your account and all data permanently.
For anything you can't do in the app, or to complain, contact us at the address below. You can also complain to Chile's Agencia de Protección de Datos Personales.
How long we keep it
Your data is kept until you delete it or your account. Deleting your account removes it from our database immediately. Login sessions expire after 30 days. Backups held by our database provider may keep deleted data for a short period before they are overwritten.
Security
Passwords are stored hashed, connections are encrypted, and each account can only read its own data. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the regulator as the law requires.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
